What was the goal of this project: The goal of this project was to both create a game for the team to test themselves inside of a new engine that we had never worked in before, and to create a game that we could showcase at Level Up 2024

Process: When joining this project, I quickly discussed with the team on what exactly we wanted to make and helped them prototype the design of various systems within the game to make sure they were feasible to add to the game while also making sure they would all seamlessly flow together without too many issues. After that I went to work on adding all necessary systems for levels and narrative to be added to the game and then focused on adding the non-essential features to the game. The design of this game changed multiple times throughout development so there was a lot of reworking old systems to work in new situations that they were not designed to work in because of this, such as adding the ability to rotate the camera in the genre of game this was intended to be. With my spare time that I had throughout development, I focused on porting the game to whatever platforms that I could and tested the game on those platforms to make sure that it was working properly on everything that I had ported the game to.

Reflection: The development of COM could've gone smoother, design changes very late within the development of the game caused a lot of issues on every aspect of the game. Aside from that the development of the game was a success as everything works as intended and the game was able to release on almost every single platform that I ported it to at the same time. I'm also happy with some of the various systems that I had made for the game which are designed to be dynamic enough that they could be used in other games if needed in the future.
